An usher is a church representative who ensures a warm and welcoming environment for all parishioners and visitors. Ushers play a crucial role in organizing the congregation during Mass by directing them to their seats, assisting with collections, and ensuring orderly movement, especially during Holy Communion.
Ushers must possess good interpersonal skills, have a welcoming attitude, and be capable of managing crowds calmly and efficiently. They are the first point of contact for parishioners, ensuring that everyone feels valued and comfortable during their time at the church.
The Ushers Ministry unites all ushers who serve at St. Cyprian Kawanda Parish. It was established with a goal of providing more structured guidance for ushers' roles and responsibilities. The ministry ensures that all ushers adhere to a high standard of service, professionalism, and conduct during their duties.
The leadership team is composed of a chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, and welfare officers. The ministry is also responsible for organizing training sessions, retreats, and social events for its members.
To become an usher, individuals must be fully initiated Catholics and attend the Ushers Ministry meetings. New members undergo an induction process where they are trained in the responsibilities of ushers, including how to handle various situations that may arise during Mass.
If you are interested in becoming an usher, please contact the Ushers Ministry Chairperson or reach out to the parish office.
